A esta pergunta, colocada originalmente pelo físico Enrico Fermi, responde outro físico, Robert Park, na sua coluna "What's New" de 6 de Agosto: Estão em, casa deles, pois não dispõem de fonte de energia que lhes permita acelerar uma nave que vença as distâncias intergalácticas.

The question of whether we are alone gnaws at us. In 1950, in a discussion of whether advanced civilizations might exist elsewhere in the Milky Way galaxy, Enrico Fermi famously asked, "Where are they?" This has come to be known as the Fermi paradox. If planets are a common feature of stars, the naturalistic assumption would be that life exists throughout the Milky Way galaxy. Sentient beings with the capacity to develop advanced technologies would be expected to evolve. Implicit in Fermi’s question was an assumption that advanced technologies would be capable of interstellar travel. Where are they? At home, as we are. Interstellar distances are too great. Travel time is not the principal obstacle. The barrier is the energy it would take to accelerate a spacecraft to a reasonable fraction of the speed of light. I hope that's the end of the Fermi paradox, and the Dyson sphere, and all that science fiction crap."

Mas, só porque a ciência humana ainda não encontrou forma de dispor dessa energia, não significa que uma forma de vida inteligente e extraterrena não o tenha feito também. A grande questão, penso eu, não residirá no facto de, será que estamos aptos a comunicar com eles (passe-se a analogia: um escaravelho apercebe-se quando tentamos comunicar com ele?...)? :p :D

isso parece ser real , sinistro , eles podem existir sim mais não devem fazer mal algum , pois se fisese já teriam nos atacado a muitos anos atras , a ciência ainda não confirmou que isso pode existir mas quando for confirmado quero ser a primeira a saber para fugir para bem longe daqui ,e se alguém sobreviver me avise quando o ataque já tiver acabado kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk
