"UNSCIENTIFIC AMERICA"

De visita aos Estados Unidos, não pude deixar de me abastecer numa livraria das últimas novidades. Uma delas, que estou a ler e desde já recomendo é o livro "Unscientific America. How Scientific Illiteracy Threatens our Future", de Chris Mooney e Sheryl Kirshenbaum (Basic Books, New York, 2009). O primeiro autor é um escritor de ciência que tinha escrito antes "The Republican War on Science", um best-seller do New York Times, enquanto a segunda autora é uma cientista (bióloga marítima), que foi assessora de um político.

Os autores consideram que os cientistas, que vivem isolados a fazer a sua ciência, são corresponsáveis pela actual situação de isolamento social da ciência, apelando para uma maior participação deles nos media e na vida pública.
